Temperature
Color also has temperature… there are both warm and cool colors. Our Color Key® system is divided into warm and cool colors to make color coordination very easy. Stand in front of the center and see which side you gravitate toward – which palette has more colors you feel comfortable with? This will quickly tell you what appeals to you. Can’t get to your local paint retailer? Our next room photographs will help you experience a range of temperatures now.
Warm Colors
Warm colors are the reds, oranges, yellows and golds.
An easy way to remember these are to think of things in nature that are warm… such as the sun, sand, desert, rocks, earth and crisp autumn leaves.
Remember that warm colors tend to advance towards us, creating a cozy atmosphere.

Cool Colors

Remember the issue of natural lighting… in this case if you have rooms that face WEST & SOUTH… sometimes they feel too warm, because they receive too much sun… you may want to paint them with a cool color like blue… (Aqua, teal, green and cool violets have the same effect).
Isn’t it wonderful that color let’s us use it’s temperature to adjust the way we feel in a space? |
